After checking out Theodore's results in ties, I looked at Price's record a little bit more carefully.
In point of fact, a very big difference between Price and Halak is the number of Over Time Losses, a result formerly known as a tie.
If we examine those 10 games we have:
min ga SA Saves SVPCT
63 5 33 28
65 3 37 34
65 3 42 39
60 3 39 36
65 3 35 32
62 3 27 24
61 2 31 29
65 2 24 22
65 2 27 25
65 1 36 35
totals
27 331 304 0.918429003
So in point of fact, Carey Price had 33 games in which he gave Montreal chance to win and 16 in which he gave them no chance to win.
Put differently he was likely to have a good game 63.4% of the time compared to Halak's 52.9%.
So I take my original assertion back, Price was the better goaltender on average than Halak was.
Topham and Tobalev were, in fact, wrong.
