Personally, I was able to make effective use of the TiVO pause button.
TMI?
Perhaps.

Possibly one of the greatest games I have ever seen.
When the USA scored their first goal on a disputed offside, you could almost feel the whining begin. And then when Crosby failed to score on a breakaway thanks to a brilliant defensive play by Kane, you could feel that destiny had shifted corners.
And with the knives out for Crosby who had played a Joe Thortonesque set of games with no goals and no points in three games, Crosby scores the winner in OT. And when he scored, my head exploded. The scream was so loud that I was breathless.
Heck my dog ran for cover ...
This was a game for the ages.
And so here is the twitter feed...
| Sun 28 Feb 12:10:15 | Go Canada .. |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:16:18 | couple of records on the line: Canada's self of worth and the record for most gold medals in a single games... |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:20:58 | last three big games i wanted to watch ended in a blow out in the first period. If Canada is blowing out the USA, I could live with that |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:21:34 | Record in watching Gold Medal Games 1-0 |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:24:05 | San Jose Sharks offensive line providing evidence Sharks are not a cup threat. |

| Sun 28 Feb 12:37:02 | Luongo is doing well. |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:39:27 | Thornton line is horrible. |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:39:43 | unable to break into zone, unable to generate offense. |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:40:10 | Toews 1-0. Chicago is my pick for the Cup. |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:40:58 | Sharks better pray detroit meets Chicago before they meet Chicago, because that's the only way they might have a chance of winning. |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:44:37 | Go Canada Go... Power play not very effectual |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:46:01 | Nice pass to Staal from Crosby who walked into the net and was stoned by Miller. |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:48:37 | Although crosby has been mostly invisible. |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:51:31 | Man Ron Wilson is an annoying coach. |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:52:30 | Luongo makes a great save. |
| Sun 28 Feb 12:57:02 | Great. Milbury wants to show how pressure is effective against Team Canada and uses Thornton as an example. Three times... |

| Sun 28 Feb 13:14:13 | Miller has been playing very well. Very, very, very well. |
| Sun 28 Feb 13:14:56 | Doughty has been impressing me. Not just offensive smarts, but good defensive smarts. The Kings will be a force as long as he is healthy |
| Sun 28 Feb 13:15:38 | Interesting, offensive players are expected to play much better defense than they would have in the 1980's |
| Sun 28 Feb 13:18:06 | Corey Perry from Getzlaf with Marleau helping along by blocking the US defender. |
| Sun 28 Feb 13:19:15 | 2-0 canada. But the slovaks have proven that this is not a lead. |
| Sun 28 Feb 13:20:42 | Toews hooked the US player ... Ouch. |
| Sun 28 Feb 13:21:57 | It is a pity Nash is stuck in Columbus. That guy deserves to be on a winner. |

| Sun 28 Feb 13:30:23 | Oh great. A goal on a disputed offside. Great. Wonderful. Let the whining begin. |
| Sun 28 Feb 13:31:21 | Crosby has not had a good game today. |
| Sun 28 Feb 13:33:32 | Getzlaf is a beast. Amazingly good player. |
| Sun 28 Feb 13:36:39 | End-to-end action. Two goaltenders are going to decide everything. |
| Sun 28 Feb 13:38:14 | Nash is a beast. An amazing player. |
| Sun 28 Feb 13:40:44 | Miller is in the head of the Canadian forwards. The Canadian team had a breakaway and they missed the net. |

Look, I like Nabby.
I mean he is overrated. After all he's the guy we kept instead of Mikko. So he has to be great, right?
I've never seen Nabby be the guy who steals the big game.
I've seen him implode regularly.
And today we saw an implosion.
Like Brodeur, his limitations were put on display in a memorable historic game.
Brodeur will be the guy who lost to the US. The first loss to a US team since for-ever.
Nabokov will be the goalie who let in 6 goals on 23 shots.
And the sad truth is that there was an option that was better. bryzgalov. But Bikhov had a dumb idea, and didn't let go of it.
I mean what is it with Russian Coaches? In 1980 Tikhonov doesn't play Tretiak. In 2010, Bikhov doesn't play Bryz. Maybe there is justice in that ... for Canada not for Russia.

I've spent the last 3 years defending Joe Thornton. Even last year when the Sharks lost in 6 games in the first round, I pointed out how poorly the second line played. I pointed out the bad coaching decisions made by Todd in trying too hard to win the division.
I take it all back.
Watching Sidney Crosby, with the game on the line, dominate for a minute and a half of astonishing hockey, and the watching Joe come right after, was depressing.
Whereas Crosby did everything but carry the puck in the net, controlling play, dominating play, Joe disappeared.
His line missed the key face-off, and then, couldn't play good enough defense to stop an empty net goal.
It was a revelation. Crosby dominated the play, controlled the ice and controlled the game. But Joe, well, he disappeared.
There is this thing called heart. I'm not sure what it is. But there are people who play better when the chips are down. And there are people who simply can not.
Joe is one of those who can not.
With Joe Thornton you can not win anything.
Sad, but true.
